Starfighters For Your Shop

When it comes to pink oriental lilies, nothing beats the starfighter. What most people don't understand is that starfighters are an exact variety of pink oriental. Back in the day when pink lilies became the hot item, the name stargazer stuck and became the common name for all pink orientals. Every once in a while you will even hear someone mention a white stargazer, which, unfortunately does not exist. Now a days, the starfighter is the most sought after pink oriental lily by most florists.
Pictured below are the starfighter. When closed, it has a nice white bloom. Once the bloom opens it has a nice solid red color with a white lining on the edge of the petals. Once opened, the starfighter also releases the sweetest fragrance that will make any room quite delightful to be in.

Summer Flowers Are Here!

Summer is upon us, and with summer come some extraordinally unique flowers. Pictured about are two of the newest flowers out there on the market this week. In the foreground is the painted daisy. The painted daisy came in a couple different color schemes. On the bottom left are daisies with white ring around the petals and orange yellow centers. At the top of the vase  is another color. It has a light lavendar ring with burgundy yellow centers.
Behind the daisies, is our other summer flower which debuted in the Seattle market this week. Coreopsis a wild flower that can be used as an accent or filler. Out with the old baby's breath and bupleurum and in with the coreopsis. The flower has the essential colors of summer for any mix or bouquet.
Both are beautiful flowers that add the summer feel to any arrangement.

Say it With Ranunculas!

Ranunculas are quite possibly the best flower ever grown. One of their greatest advantages is the variety of color they come in. We grown them red, burgundy, yellow, orange, pink, hot pink, fuschia, purple, lavendar, white, and even green.  Pictured above is an arrangment of yellow, peach, and white varieties. White ranunculas are by far the best color for the flower. When fully opened it looks like an amazingly tasty marshmallow. The yellow and peach ranunculas add some flavor to the arrangement with color. Yellow ranunculas come in two tones, bright and pale. Orange ranunculas come in at least three different tones, a light orange, peach, and a deep-bright tone.
In the months of June and July, Skyline Flowers is one of only a handful of growers in the entire world that has ranunculas available. Being able to purchase these direct from the grower always ensures a level of freshness that is a cut above the rest.

Thanks Again!

We, here at Skyline Seattle, would like to thank all of the florists, designers, and anyone else who came out to show support at our open house barbecue. There were over 150 people in attendance and from what we heard, it was one of the largest design shows Seattle has ever seen.

The day started perfect with nice, steady rain, but we did not let that deter us. We rolled out the barbecue, lit up the oak wood, and got the party started. In attendance were Joe and Tom Goldberg, the owners of Skyline Flowers, who cooked and mingled. Both said they were very surprised with the turnout and loved hearing the rave reviews about the flowers and our business. At noon the party officially began and lunch was served. There was chicken and tri-tip cooked Santa Maria style, chilli beans, watermelon, and salad. Joe was the chef of the day and he defintely showed off his skills with everything turning out delicious. Around one o'clock, we played a short movie about the history of Skyline, how it started, where it's been, and where it's going. Following the movie, Debbie Deis, a California designer, held a very nice design show. Speaking with florists after the event, they said they really paid attention during the design show and even learned a few things.

It is really amazing how fast we have grown here in Seattle. Only in our thrd month, we feel we are performing well above any benchmark that we had set for ourselves. The flower community continues to accept us into their businesses and homes. We can not show enough thanks for all of this. Thank you again Seattle!

Sunflowers For Sunny Days

The sun has finally begun to show itself here in Seattle and what better flower to express our gratitude than the sunflower. Sunflowers are great for almost any occasion. Their bright yellow petals really shine and add amazing color to any arrangment or bouquet.

Green Ranunculas

Since opening in March, we have noticed a trend among the florists. Many of you enjoy flowers that are unique and can add some flavor to your arrangements. I'd like to present the green ranuncula. It is about as unique as they come. As the ranuncula opens more, it some-what projects itself upwards giving off the appearance that it is growing, or getting bigger. If you'd like to try some, give us a call or speak with your rep the next time he drops by.
